Summary
of the levels
Tadpoles Developing basic safety
awareness, the “class” scenario, basic
movement skills and water confidence. Children will
work towards stage 1, Duckling 1,2,3 and the Puffin
badge.
Shrimp Having gained water confidence
the basic leg kicks are introduced – learning
to swim with one float on both the front and back.
Children work towards Stage 1 and Duckling 4 badges.
Frog Developing safe entries into
the water, basic floating, travelling on the front
(breast stroke and/or front crawl) and back a distance
of 5 metres, plus rotation to regain an upright position.
Children work towards Duckling 5, Stage 2 and 5 metres.
Turtles Developing safe entries
including submersion, travel up to 10 metres on the
front (front crawl and/or breast stroke) and back,
progress rotation skills and water safety knowledge.
Children work towards Stage 3 and 10 metres.
Otters Developing the understanding
of buoyancy through a range of skills, refining kicking
technique for all strokes and swimming 15 metres basic
technique of their choice of stroke. Children work
towards Stage 4 and 15 metres.
Jellyfish Developing “watermanship”
through sculling and treading water skills and complete
rotation, also performing all the strokes (front crawl,
breast stroke, back stroke and butterfly) with regular
breathing over 10 metres and swim 25 metres choice
of stroke. Children work towards Stage 5 and 25 metres.
Dolphin Developing effective swimming
skills including co-ordinated breathing across all
four strokes over 25 metres (16 metres for butterfly)
and complete 50 metres on choice of stroke. Children
work towards Stage 6 and 50 metres.
Sharks Developing quality stroke
technique up to 100 metres, incorporating previously
learnt skills and combining them to develop a linked
routine and successfully complete an obstacle course.
Children work towards Stage 7, 100 metres, 200 metres,
400 metres and Bronze Challenge.
Poseidon/Neptune Children will continue
to develop their stroke technique, including starts
and turns. Children work towards 800 metres, 1000
metres and Silver and Gold Challenge badges.
Fitness/ Honours
For those children who have completed all the levels
and wish to maintain their fitness by working towards
the Elite and Ultimate swimmer awards along with some
competitive awards and the Honours Challenge award.
Free Evaluations
If you are unsure which level your child would be
in, then we do offer a free evaluation with our qualified
teachers. This would take approximately 20 minutes.

Costs
The costs are per 30 minute lesson and are booked
and paid for as a course of between 10-14 weeks.
Ducklings £4.20 lesson, Junior £4.40 (30
minute lesson), £6.60 (45 minute lesson)
